Renette started cooking when she was only 11 and the first thing she ever attempted was Duck a la Orange... It was 1975, the retro years.
In later years, duck would become the dish she would be renowned for.
Renette is a self taught cook, but she can do all the classics one would expect from a professionally trained chef.
During the late 80's Renette began inviting town's folk into her home for themed restaurant evenings, even setting up "shop" in other rented spaces for an evening's food and entertainment. She became the country's very first pop up restaurateur!
In 2014 Renette was selected to take part in KykNET's reality cooking competition, Kokkedoor, in which she ended in Top 4 position. She is currently hosting the cooking inserts on the weekly actuality program Ontbytsake.
Renette and her husband own a small guest house in Pretoria and she receives small groups for cooking demonstrations and in-house dinners at her Pretoria home.
